Theophilus London: Mini Bio | Why Even Try (Video) | Latest Single "Last Name London"

Trinidad-born Brooklyn raised alternative rap artist Theophilus London genre-bending approach draws from a range of styles, from soul-pop and post-punk to electro and contemporary R&B. His mixtapes include , Jam! (2008) and This Charming Mixtape (2009), I Want You (2010).

From JAM! through I Want You, the Brooklyn native watched as critics and fans alike flocked to his '80s-referencing, dance-friendly hip-hop. And it all led to a deal with a major label, Warner Bros.

On his debut EP, Lovers Holiday, up-and-coming Brooklyn MC Theophilus London aggressively pushes modern hip-hop into indie rock hipsterdom, tapping TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek, Sara Quin from Tegan and Sara, Glasser, and Solange Knowles for guest spots.

His debut LP, Timez Are Weird These Days is out July 19th on Warner Bros. Records. The album’s opening cut, “Last Name London,” is an in-your-face introduction to what Theophilus is all about.

As London explains, his 11 track debut “captures a moment in time. It’s a reflection of what’s going on in pop culture right now. Man, times are real weird these days.” London doesn’t see musical boundaries, he’s created an equally wide-open album with genre bending sound and a magnetic brand of storytelling. Recorded over the last year in Stockholm, NYC and Los Angeles, London worked with a number of different producers to achieve his sound including Ariel Rechstshaid (Foreign Born, MURS, Glasser), Jokke of The Teddybears, John Hill (Santigold) and Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.

On release day, July 19th, Theophilus London is confirmed to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
